Denise has worked in diverse clinical settings, including residential group homes for at-risk youth, children's mental health centers in Greater Toronto Area (GTA) schools, and private practice clinics. Her work has spanned all age groups, from children to seniors, through individual therapy, family therapy, group work, and parental support.
Currently, Denise focuses on supporting adults aged 18 and over, using a trauma-informed and holistic approach that emphasizes the mind-body connection. She integrates a range of evidence-based modalities, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). Her work is enriched by attachment theory and gender and sexuality studies, allowing her to offer personalized, inclusive care.
As a clinical supervisor, Denise mentors psychotherapists and Qualifying candidates, creating a space for growth, reflection, and skill development. She values the supervisory relationship as a meaningful partnership.
Denise specializes in supporting individuals with issues like childhood and intergenerational trauma, attachment wounds, relationship challenges, infidelity, personality disorders, dissociation, and the unique stressors faced by first responders. She believes therapy is a transformative journey toward healing and self-discovery.
Outside of work, Denise enjoys exploring nature, whether hiking trails or visiting city parks, where she finds inspiration and tranquility.
