I have worked with children and youth both as a Child and Youth Worker and now as a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying). I have chosen to specialize in working with children and youth and completed my Master’s Internship Program in a children’s clinic, and work with children and youth 5 – 25 years old. I have worked in a schools, hospitals and private clinics and worked with children/youth with a wide range of different challenges, including behavioral challenges, anxiety, depression, life stressors, school anxiety, and relationship concerns both in the family and with others outside the family, supporting children, youth and their families through some of their toughest mental health battles.
Traditional talk therapy can be quite daunting for children and teens, and it can be difficult to be open and vulnerable when you are already finding life so challenging. When I work with you and your child/teen I will begin by creating a safe space, allow you to set the pace for the sessions, without pushing you too far beyond your comfort level. I tailor the sessions according to your needs, and use play based therapeutic techniques as age appropriate to facilitate healing.
I approach therapy from a person-centred approach. I draw on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, and strength-based therapy when working with you. I incorporate a great deal of play-based therapeutic techniques when working with children.
