Children, when faced with difficult situations, often turn to play and art to express how they’re feeling. As adults, we can use the same the tools if we are able to tap into those skills that we learned in our youth. As a professional Art Therapist, my hope is to help you, through taping into your innate creativity to help you learn new skills, adopt new ways coping, gain increased insight, and help facilitate emotional expression.
I have had the honor of providing Art Therapy, and traditional talk therapy, in both individual and group sessions, for people from many different walks of life. I specialize in supporting people experiencing loss, grief, and bereavement, as well as those with body-related disorders such as gastrointestinal disorders and chronic pain. I have also had the privilege of supporting people as they work through and learn to cope with challenges related to addictions, trauma, mental illness, mental health, such as anxiety and depression
My approach to sessions is trauma-informed, holistic, and person-centered. In addition to art-based methods, I am also deeply informed by mind-body psychotherapy and mindfulness. I also draw upon other evidence-based techniques, such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Narrative Therapy, to assist you in your journey.
We all hold within us the strengths and skills to cope with whatever life brings our way. Together, in our sessions, we will discover creative and accessible ways to work towards and cope with the changes that you wish to make as you work towards positive mental health. Whether you’re a child or a child-at-heart, I look forward to working with you to discover and develop your own language of creativity as you move toward healing and living your best life.
