Christy Ogley

Christy Ogley

I am a Registered Social Worker with 15 years of experience. I completed my Bachelor of Social Work at the University of Waterloo, and my Master of Social Work at the University of Toronto.

I am passionate about working with women and men who are struggling with mental health challenges. I work with my clients to understand of how their symptoms are impacting their day to day lives, and help them to find ways to create new opportunities for success and change. I use CBT, DBT and Solution Focused approaches to assist clients to create a new perspective on their lives, learn new coping skills, and reduce the stress and unhappiness they are experiencing. I have extensive experience working with clients who are experiencing violence in their relationships, and in helping them find safety and healing. I also have a special interest in helping individuals navigate the complexities of their LGBTQ identity.

My therapeutic approach includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy skills (DBT), Solution Focused Therapy, and Feminist modalities. I use the lenses of Anti-Oppressive Practice and Strength-Based work. I am continually learning new skills and approaches, and offer services in English and French.
My interest in this work arises from personal experiences with mental health challenges, and witnessing that of my family members. I am also curious and empathetic about the wide range of challenges people face in our community, and how we can work together to make life more enjoyable for one another. As part of my personal journey, I spent a year living and working with people with disabilities in France, and am now fluent in French. I have continued to work in the language since my return over fifteen years ago.
