Ready…Set…Goal. Cognitive Behavioural Social Skills Training (CBSST)

Teens need teens – and yet for many teens finding and keeping good friends can be incredibly difficult. Teens struggling with mental illness, need teens plus therapy – and they often need therapy for an extended period of time, and this can be very costly. We’ve brought those two together, ‘teens’ and ‘therapy’ offering affordable, extended group therapy for teens who need more than a handful of sessions to get on top of what is troubling them. CBSST combines Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Social Skills training. It is an 18 week course that is broken into 3 modules of 6 weeks.

The CBSST is an 18 week course that is broken into 3 modules of 6 weeks each. You can sign up for 1, 2 or 3 modules.

Module 1 focuses on cognitions, or thoughts, and will help you to change negative thoughts about yourself and other people, to more positive ways of thinking that will help you feel better and make healthy life choices, such as changing thoughts about not being any good, or always being a failure, to more positive thoughts that recognize your uniqueness, and what you have achieved.

Module 2 focuses on social skills, or how we relate to other people, and get on with other people. This module will help you to master important social interactions, such as being able to say no to someone, or to tell someone you don’t like what they are doing, or saying, or to be able to ask someone for something you need and set up healthy boundaries.

Module 3 focuses on problem solving, or how we fix what isn’t working, or get out of a difficult situation, such not being able to get to an interview on time, or not being able to complete your homework late. This module will help you to be able to find solutions to common, and more complex, problem situations that you find yourself in.
